Wow what an old thread.... If it is a 2002. There could still be Safety switches engaged. Like on the throttle assy when opened up over a 1/4 throttle, or the brake lever switch, or the kill tether. Generally when the cdi goes out one faint spark occurs and then no more until the next time. How ever this model was know for plug caps that go very bad at the worst times. Start there and then clean teh stator area and all grounds for the stator/CDI/Ign.coil. And get rid of the safety lanyard and replace with a real one, bypass the brake and throttle safety switches as these also fail. JMO.
